I think I am in love…

Much to the chagrin of my father, a lover of american muscle cars, I have been a Ferrari lover for nearly 30 years.

I have become smitten with the latest Ferrari, the 458 Italia. The F458 is set to be debuted September 8th at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The latest Ferrari is a master piece. As fabled Ferrari folklore defines its heritage as a 4.5 liter with 8 cylinders from where else Italia.

I think it’s gorgeous.

The Italian car designer Pininfarina has created a car body design that is aggressively beautiful as well as contributing to high performance aerodynamic s required of a car of this performance. In addition Ferrari claims more racing technology was included in this model than any other previous Ferraris including the Enzo.

As always Ferrari doesn’t disappoint in the performance arena either. The car boasts a 4.5-liter V8 pumping out 562 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Eighty percent of the 398 lb-ft torque is available at a very low 3250 rpm. The top speed is reported at 202 mph making it the first volume produced Ferrari to top 200. Previous Ferraris to top 200 mph were more limited productions.

Other cool performance features include a screaming 9000 rpm redline as well as a power to weight ratio of one horsepower for every 5.41 pounds of weight and 0-60 mph times at around 3.42 seconds. And it’s got 7 gears.

Maybe someday when this blog and the other ones I have yet to start blows up I can afford one. Until then all I can do is dream.
