It was 34 years ago today AC DC released their Back in Black Album.  Back in Black was their comeback album with new singer Brian Johnson who replaced the late Bon Scott.  Scott had passed away the previous February. The band was encouraged to go on by Scott’s parents.  Back in Black is dedicated to Bon Scott. The album cover is all black in tribute.

The recording of the album began just two short months after Bon’s death. It was recorded in the Bahamas and Brian Johnson has been quoted as hating it there. During the recording the bands gear was held up in customs and storms were raging.  The whole experience inspired the lyrics, “”I’m rolling thunder, pourin’ rain. I’m comin’ on like a hurricane. My lightning’s flashing across the sky. You’re only young but you’re gonna die ”  -Source Back in Black 30th Anniversary.

On 13 December 2007, the RIAA certified it 22x multi-platinum, recognizing sales of 22 million in the US,

[3] making it the sixth-highest-selling album in the US (fourth-highest at the time).[4] “Back in Black” is the 77th album in the ranking “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” of the American magazine Rolling Stone.[5]  -Source Wikipedia Back in Black

This album was full of popular rock anthems. “Back in Black” was the title track and it proclaimed that the boys from Australia were back.”You Shook Me All Night Long” tells of hard rockers love.  “Hells Bells” featuring a ringing bell to “Shoot to Thrill” that has one of my favorite bass lines of all times.  “Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution” features some of the bluesiest rock and roll rift of all time.

This album is full of classic rock riffs.  Enjoy it if you haven’t heard it in a while.
