Cool Things I Have Been Doing at Work.

I guess I should give credit where credit is due.  My boss has done an excellent job involving me in cool projects. I thought it might be time to highlight a few of these projects.

NAED Navigator 2013 Presenter:

5-Star-Training-on-a-DimeLast week I got to be a presenter at National Academies of Emergency Dispatch’s (NAED) Annual Navigator Conference. I did a presentation with a coworker entitled  5 Star Training on a Dime Budget.  You can read more about it at my resume website.

Revolutionizing 9-1-1.

We were finally recognized by the media for our part in revolutionizing the 9-1-1 call delivery system.  We have spent much of the last year planning, purchasing, upgrading and testing a new 9-1-1 phone system that is completely delivered via IP. Tomorrow we bring up another key node on this network, Unified Police Department.

Two Way 300-500 MB Microwave Data Connection

Cisco-ASR1002Xs

For the last 18 months I have been able to participate in the creation of a dual loop microwave network. In an effort to lower costs and implement better methods of IP Phone and IP Radio delivery to agencies in Salt Lake County,  a dual loop connection between 6 sites is being created.  We spent a week doing hands on training that helped us configure, MPLS, OSPF, COS, and VLAN’s.  We hope to finish configuring and deploy these units really soon.
