One crappy day as I drove home from work I listened to Charlie Rose interview Jeff Bridges about his latest role.  The role was of a washed up has-been country music, semi-star by the name of Bad Blake in the movie “Crazy Heart”.  The interview was when the Oscar buzz about Bridges’ performance was just starting. The interview was interesting enough that I wrote down the name of the movie so I could see it.

This week I finally watched the movie.

I liked the movie.
The film’s main character, Bad Blake played by Jeff Bridges, is loosely based on a combination of Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard. The writer-director Scott Cooper initially wanted to do a biopic on Haggard but found the rights to his life story were too difficult to obtain. The novel by Thomas Cooper, on which the film was based, was actually inspired by country singer Hank Thompson. Bridges earned the 2009 Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film.

Jeff Bridges brings to life a loveable character full of flaws and trouble. Blake meets a woman who inspires him to make the changes he needs to in his life and life begins to blossom.   In addition Bridges plays guitar and sings some great old school country blues.  I love the soundtrack and its on order from Amazon.

I thought I would share the title track.
