Did you know that Denmark celebrates the 4th of July? Every year in the hill country town of Rebild, Denmark, Americans and Danes gather to celebrate the 4th of July. Danes and Americans have been gathering to celebrate the 4th for more than 100 years. RebildFest as it is known has been celebrating the 4th of July since 1912 when a group of Danish emigrants returned to Denmark and purchased 140 acres and donated it to the King of Denmark. It became a national park. Every year thousands of people assemble in Rebild to celebrate American independence day. Every year a Dane and an American of Danish decent are asked to speak.
I was lucky enough to attend RebildFest in 1990, where I saw the Crown Prince Frederick and Richard Chamberlin speak.
