When my money tree grows up or when my ship comes in I will purchase my self a Duesenberg Guitar.  These guitars are gorgeous.  Duesenberg Guitars have a unique stand out look.  They are a high quality guitar at a reasonable price for a professional instrument.

I recently got to play a  Duesenberg DDC Double Cat Electric Guitar in the fire burst color at Starchild Music Productions in Sandy, Utah.  It had come into the shop that day and had just been set up by Floyd Kunz, guitar Luthier and bassist for The Jon Dansie Band.  The guitar has a vintage look and feel. It has old school car like paint job think classic muscle car with Art Dec looks.  All I can say is it sounds great. It plays great. The tone is bluesy.

Some of the features on The Duesenberg DDC are 22 jumbo frets, traditional set in neck, 2-piece American alder body with sound chambers, maple top (multi-layer), binding on headstock, fingerboard, body top. Super Tremola tailpiece (Can you say way cool?), floating bridge, 3-step kidney-shape tuner buttons, P-90 construction single coil pickup (neck position), vintage humbucker (bridge position), spezial Duesenberg twang sound in middle position of 3-way switch. The Duesenberg guitar probably comes with the heaviest case of all time.  All in all it is one sweet rig.

Duesenberg guitars is one of the hottest guitars to come out in a while… Dieter Galsdorf has created a company and a product that is hot white hot.  How hot? These guitars have been on back order for a while due to their popularity.  I have seen the following artists playing Dusenbergs on TV: Billy F Gibbons (ZZ Top), Ron Wood (The Rolling Stones), Colin Haye (Men at Work), Elvis Costello, Mike Campbell (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), Sheryl Crow, Kenny Loggins, Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Carrie Underwood, Joe Walsh (The Eagles), Hugh “Huey” McDonald (Bon Jovi) and Toby Keith.

If you are looking for a beautiful guitar… I recomend Duesenberg.  If you are having trouble getting your hands on one contact Jon Dansie, at Starchild Music Productions in Sandy, Utah. He has them in stock and set up ready to play.

In addition to guitars Duesenberg makes basses, lapsteel guitars, vintage effects, and boutique amps all with the same attentions to detail and sound.

I have searched and searched the Duesenberg site, but cannot find anything that states that the guitars are made in Germany. I understand that they are owned by a company registered in Germany, that the company was started by a German, they are designed by Germans, and perhaps even set-up in Hanover Germnay, but there is no “Made in Germany” anywhere on their site…
This of course, does not reflect on the qualities of the guitars, but I'd expect there to be a clear statement to this fact if it was the case.

There is a rumor going around that Duesenbergs are Korean made. I was worried about this and decided to call them and ask about it. I actually got to speak with the president (Dieter I think was his name) and here is what he said, “Duesenbergs are 100% made and assembled in Germany. Germany has pretty strict laws about their companies being allowed to label their guitars “German Made”. They require that 80% of all labor AND MATERIALS be German made for a German company to be able to stamp it “German Made”. He is unable to say that they are German Made BECAUSE most of the wood is not from Germany. All of the parts and electronics are made in germany (at his factory deal), BUT since the wood is a majority of the guitar, he’s not allowed to say it.” When I spoke with him, he was in his manufacturing facility and he said ,”It really bothers me to have people tell me that my guitars are made in Germany. I take pride in my instruments and they are 100% German made. I wish Germany would loosen up their laws on this type of issue because there are a lot of rumors out there that are just not true.” As with any guitar, there are some great ones and there are some not so great ones. I remember playing my first gretsch years ago (and old one) and it was incredible. I went to buy the same model (just a few years newer) and it felt like Crap. I didn’t know what Doozys were, and the salesman handed me and said “try this and tell me what you think”. It was amazing. I went home and did some research and bought my guitar a few days later (which is incredible playing and sounding). That being said, I do know of some guys who have played not so great versions of Duesenbergs and don’t like em. As with any guitar, If you’re thinking of buying one, I’d suggest playing it first and not buying it sight unseen.
