It’s not like its real money…

I applaud the President for having the guts to ask for cuts of $100,000,000 from each member of his cabinet. I mean one hundred million dollars is a nice sum anywhere but in Washington D.C.

“$100 million there, $100 million here, pretty soon, even in Washington, it adds up to real money,” President Obama insists.

Real Money… how about a little bit of perspective… The current year’s budget is $3,900,000,000,000. Saving $100,000,000 is the same percentage of savings as a $1 dollar rebate to someone who makes $50,000 a year.  $100,000,000 savings is .002 percent.

Or in other not so glamorous perspective… Obama’s $6 billion National Service Bill paying American’s to Volunteer cost a mere 57 times more than the savings of the cabinet.  But again who really keeps score on these things. It’s not like its real money.

Put the $100,000,000 into perspective.

He gave his cabinet 90 days to find 100 Million dollars?
As you said, compare this to my household and I would need to reduce my YEARLY budget by $2.00. I can find that in the cushions of my couch or give up a gallon of gas...Plus I wont need 90 days to figure out where I am going to make the cut.
