I hate autism… but I have a soft spot for any child with it or family that has to support children with it.
Cameron is a kid in my neighborhood who has autism. He recently received a service dog. His family is putting on an event to raise money for service dogs for kids with autism.
Paws for the Cause Autism Service Dogs
Paws for the Cause Autism Service Dogs is holding their first 5K and 1 mile fun run. There will be fun for every age. Before and after the run there will be music, treats, face paining for the kids a chance to meet Stella (our service dog) and other dogs in training for children with autism. Ryan Olsen, our trainer, will be there to answer any questions about how these dogs are trained. There will also be a raffel and silet auction after the run so you will want to stick around to get some great things. All the proceeds will go toward children with autism who are waiting for a service dog. Some of the venders donating are Roxberry, The Home Depot, Mountain Medical, Little Cesars, Chick-fil-a, U Swirl, Mega Plex and much more.
Autism now affects 1 in 110 children and 1 in 70 boys. Service dogs provide a physical and emotional anchor for children with autism. With their child tethered to a service dog, families feel they are newly freed to engage in activities as simple as going to the park. The dog has a calming presence that can minimize and often eliminate emotional outbursts, enabling the child to more fully participate in daily activities. A service dog helps increase the opportunity for the child to develop social and language skills. We are trying to raise money for children with Autism to recieve a service dog and help them in their every day life.
