Lets Be Politically Incorrect

Politically Incorrectness

Political correctness has long bothered me. Whatever happened to the childhood saying of “Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me?” Apparently it has died with Little League trophies only going to the winners and not every damn participant and dodge ball in elementary school.

What prompted this rant was a story on ESPN.

I was just reading how two LA Clippers announcers were recently suspended.

Clippers longtime play-by-play announcer Ralph Lawler and color analyst Michael Smith were suspended one game by the Fox Sports Prime Ticket cable network for their comments about Memphis center Hamed Haddadi.

Smith: “Look who’s in.”

Lawler: “Hamed Haddadi. Where’s he from?”

Smith: “He’s the first Iranian to play in the NBA.” (Smith pronounced Iranian as “Eye-ranian,” a pronunciation that offended the viewer who complained.)

Lawler: “There aren’t any Iranian players in the NBA,” repeating Smith’s mispronunciation.

Smith: “He’s the only one.”

Lawler: “He’s from Iran?”

Smith: “I guess so.”

Lawler: “That Iran?”

Smith: “Yes.”

Lawler: “The real Iran?”

Smith: “Yes.”

Lawler: “Wow. Haddadi that’s H-A-D-D-A-D-I.”

Smith: “You’re sure it’s not Borat’s older brother?”

Smith: “If they ever make a movie about Haddadi, I’m going to get Sacha Baron Cohen to play the part.”

Lawler: “Here’s Haddadi. Nice little back-door pass. I guess those Iranians can pass the ball.”

Smith: “Especially the post players.

Lawler: “I don’t know about their guards.”

My first thought was who was actually watching a Clippers game?

The next thought was the last 20 years of crappy Clippers teams and their play hasn’t offended you but some off color impromptu banter does?

My mother taught me that in order to be offended is was really my choice.  I could take some thing offensive and be offended or I could choose not to be offended. It was up to me.

I find it funny that someone would waste any time to complain. For me if something is offensive or I don’t like it , I have a simple solution. I have the power to turn off my TV. Its like I am empowered to be not offended.

Then came my next thought…

In America we have become such weak, cry baby, wankers, that we are offended by any and all speech. We have become too fragile to handle one of life’s realities- sometimes people say offensive things. My advice is simple get over it. The pussification of America through the political correctness movement is insane.

Political correctness is just the tyranny of the masses. It’s totalitarian and suppresses the individual and is alive and well today. It’s pretty scary. It’s not really the failure to relax, but the failure to accept others. Todaysnewsart

wwII

I was watching World War II in HD on the History Channel and a soldier was recounting how the Japanese soldiers would scream out in the night slurs and insults trying to provoke the Americans to shoot and give away their position. Does this mean that American’s in battle now cower and cry when the enemy insults them?

Will We need to be Politically Correct in Our Wars?

I can just hear a PC soldiers cry in the night: “Oh stop! Stop the name calling… I am crying in my foxhole. I can handle the fighting and the gun fire but the name calling is too much.”

The point I am trying to make is toughen up. It words offend you then you have some serious issues and are probably a complete recluse. If you are unclear as to what toughness is go the World War II in HD website and click on the bios. Watch their videos and see what true grit is… and it is not bound by political correctness especially Jimmie Kanaya. Kanaya joined the Army and his family was sent to a Japanese internment camp.

America has become so politically correct that when a Muslim soldier attacks American’s, the media stumbles over themselves not to call him a Terrorist. We don’t want to offend the Muslim community. However being a Muslim doesn’t equate to being a terrorist. You become a terrorist when you kill Americans in an act of war. Timothy McVeigh wasn’t a Muslim but he sure was a terrorist. A terrorist is simply a person who uses violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.

Why was the media so afraid to call Nidal Hasan a terrorist?

It is simple, no one wanted letters of complaint.
