Hell hath no fury like a politician scorned… What do you do when you know you are going to lose your job? You switch teams and whine whine whine. Arlen Spector on the TV show Face the Nation blames the Republicans for not spending enough on medical research as the cause of Jack Kemp’s death from cancer. Specter claims if the Republicans had spent biliions and billions more that Jack Kemp would be alive.
It’s also a grotesque lie. During Republican control of Congress, federal spending on health research and regulation increased 46% after inflation, from $49 billion a year to $72 billion a year, or about 7% increase each year. That’s almost the same rate of increase as Defense spending got in the same period (48%), when we actually had a real war on our hands, and not a political contrivance for excusing federal spending. Arlene Specter has lost his mind. He has become such a glory hound. He can’t enough of the lime light so he says some pretty ridiculous things to keep the spot light on. If I were Jack Kemp’s family I would blast Specter for his lack of couth.
Specter has lost any respect. Specter has betrayed his constituents, attacked his supporters and now blames them for death . To me when you lose your values to save your livelihood you have lost any success and honor you may have had.
When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic. –Dresden James
