Jason Chaffetz is the man… He is the modern-day real life Mr. Smith from Frank Capra’s 1939 film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.  Mr. Smith is a naive common sense man is appointed to fill a vacancy in the US Senate. His plans promptly collide with political corruption, but he doesn’t back down.

From Day 1 in office Rep. Chaffetz has been about saving the tax payer money. He was mocked throughout the country for sleeping on a cot in his office.

ERANSWORLD’s CONFLICT OF INTEREST DISCLAIMER: Chaffetz represents me both because I live in his Utah 3rd district and because he has values that I agree.

Smaller government, less pork, less spending equals lower taxes and better economic activity.

Today he was kicking ass with his message on Fox News about the pork  being stuffed into the Healthcare legislation.

House passes $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill

The House Thursday passed a huge spending measure combining major spending boosts for domestic agencies and foreign aid with more than 5,000 back-home projects sought by lawmakers.

The 1,088-page, $1.1 trillion measure would provide $447 billion in operating budgets for 10 Cabinet departments, awarding increases averaging almost 10 percent. On top of that comes more than $600 billion in payments for federal benefit programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Rep. Chaffetz said the following:

The American people get it. If you want to continue to have a job here and continue to represent the people, you better vote the way they want you to. America is fed up with this uncontrolled spending.

This is the worst of the worst. We had a 2500 page bill that we have less than 24 hours, and we voted on it, and it is so full of garbage.

I took out a 12-year incumbent Republican because of this issue. I was adamant in saying, look, we have to be good stewards of the American peoples’ money, and those that refuse will suffer the consequences. The reason you do an omnibus bill and combine six different agencies into one bill is to hide stuff…You load all the crap that would never stand by the light of day…

Everybody is going to have to be personally accountable and go back to their voters and they will say, you know what, I did not send you to Washington to write pork. …

They’re going to have to answer. The more they become creatures of Washington D.C., the more trouble they will have. I can just answer for myself and say I am proud I did not vote for it and did not put any crap in the bill.

Why does this outrageous spending matter?

One example of why it matters is that the dollar is so deflated that over the past year where I have had $10,000 in the bank and I have only earned so $1.39 in interest on this money. Our money loses its value if you hold on to it. This is bad for the economy. Debt enslaves those who shackle themselves to it. With the immoral and unethical printing of money it destroys the average persons’ ability to save up for and pay cash for items.

I wonder if the economic machine of America can handle 2 more years of runaway spending.
