I stumbled into Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band some time in 1999 in the cess pool of conformity that is Provo, UT. I remember they played a song about a dog that made me laugh (Phideaux)
and a great cover of Devil Went Down to Georgia. Shupe describes his music as "post-Hee Haw funkadelic hip hop newgrass." All I knew was that Ryan and his band could play and play very very well. A while later I picked up both of thier cd's and discovered this gem. While the song may seem cliche and probably is but for me it carries a message that seemed right during a very difficult time in my life. These guys put on a great show so if you get a chance to see them perform take it. You can purchase their music here.
I noticed on amazon that the cd might not be ipod and computer friendly. My versions are the original home brew releases from their early days. I also noticed that the songs are different than the versions I have.
